Off The Record

I walk the line

This is us just outside Alpha House/behind Urban Bites.  I’m wearing a thrifted slip dress, diva necklace, Rivers shoes & Kate Spade bag (told you I only wear the top contents of my luggage).  Rings were a gift from N’s mum when we spotted them at Myer last year in Melbourne just waiting for me to grab them.  They were on sale (of course) and came in a stack, but I’ve been wearing them as single thin bands. My Neon Hart x General Pants Spliced Anorak has received many comments about whether it is a jacket, or a vest and a top, and if it’s made of leather. Spliced anorak, you be whatever you want to be. There is no judgement.

Truth be told

10pm and I’m having a bowl of Milo (cereal) for dinner. I think one of the main reasons I’m so vertically challenged is because I sit weird, which probably never really allows my legs to fully develop. To be completely honest, I also like squatting…on chairs. Weird. As you can see I also have very bad eating habits. *unashamed*

Wearing N’s FCUK shirt – because I’m sort of living out of my suitcase at the moment, I only skim through the few pieces of clothes at the top layer of my luggage. Have found it easier to just steal some of Nathan’s tshirts.  Can’t wait to finally find a place!

Shorts from Asos. Boring.

Twist and Split

Melbourne last year :) Hectically layering just to watch the final instalment of Harry Potter with N.

Shirt from FEP, Uniqlo cardi, LOVE Necklace from the Glebe markets, Jay Jay’s skirt, Kate Spade bag, Rivers heels

Holes in my apologies

Spiedo

Had dinner with N last night.  Tried out this restaurant at Level 6 Westfield called Spiedo (pronounced Spi-eh-do).  Loving that we are having one nice meal a week, especially after 2 years of lots of home-cooked meals and cheap thai take-aways (which I so do love).

Entree: Casoncelli alla Bresciana ($24/31)

Veal & pork filled casoncelli, burnt butter, sage, crispy pancetta (obviously i’m copying this off their menu). Very appetising, although a tad too cheesy.

Main: Tagliolini, Granchio, Limone, Melanzane ($24/31)

Tagliolini (Italian for chinese chow mien I’m assuming lol), crab meat, lemon, eggplant. Although this dish didn’t blow my mind, it was still really delicious, and very easy to eat. Lots of crab meat, although on hindsight it wasn’t as lemony as it could be.

Dessert: Spiedo Tiramisu

We actually ordered the Spiedo dessert plate ($18) , which also came with the most amazing strawberry gelato and barbajada. The tiramisu is omg ‘deconstructed’ so you fully taste every part of it. Quite strong, so it wasn’t really for me since I have a sweet tooth, but still totally killed my taste buds.

Overall, good food but nothing that really wow-ed us. Nathan ordered the Spiedo Bresciano ($39) as his main, which is basically a Brescian style spit roast of duck, pork ribs, pork neck and chicken. Scary and carnivorous. Prices are a bit on the high end for me (poor uni student), but if you go there before 7pm, you can opt for the Pre-Theatre menu – begins from 5.30 – 7pm, leave by 7.45pm, and pay $49 for two courses (one entree and main, or one main and dessert).

Already thinking about somewhere else to go next week. Any recommendations??

Bird Cages

Love it when Sydney surprises me with hidden places like this. Right smack in the city too.

I thought I saw you in the summer sky

Food snaps from the iphone! Amazing Bacon & egg roll + Mocha + Steak sandwich from this cafe in Balmain, and the mushroom fritters at Jamie Oliver’s Restaurant? TO DIE FOR.

Ideas

Happy CNY guys! N and I travelled up north (lol, just to Pennant Hills, where we made lousy jokes about how we don’t have phone reception and how we should stick to the main road) to attend Emme & Danny’s CNY party. They live in a 60 year old house that’s been transformed into a beautiful home. We had oh so much good food to eat, and Emme even made yu sheng, which I so love. We stayed the night, and it was sooooo quiet! So different from Newtown and King street.

I start work tomorrow, on the first day of CNY too, but I’m looking forward! Will be sending in my house applications too, so please keep me and Saran in your prayers!
